SUN, MOON and STARS - inspired by celestial bodies
Baroque Encounter enjoy devising and presenting new programmes of baroque chamber music. The programme below is was devised for counter tenor, recorder(s) and keyboard. Though the recitals are normally created for the harpsichord many are able to be adapted for piano. We are always happy to work to new ideas and requirements... just contact us!
Through the ages composers have been inspired by celestial bodies. Baroque Encounter presents a charming recital featuring Hasse’s Pallido il sole (Pale the Sun), Lucidissima Face (Endimione’s song to the moon from Cavalli’s La Calisto), excerpts from Vivaldi’s motet Clarae Stellae Scintillate, Saul's heartbreaking aria Total Eclipse from Handel's Saul, and Barnabas Gunn’s sacred cantata Sun, Moon and Stars, Praise the Lord.
